Come back to this site often and ride along with me around the Upper Great Lakes.

For the past two days I have been relaxing with family on St. Joseph Island, Ontario. It is an Island that is the second largest fresh water island in the world that is sparsely populated and full of history, great views, outstanding fishing, and wonderful and friendly people.

After parking the camper at my cousin’s cottage I have to admit I spent most of the past two days sitting on his deck eating great food, visiting and laughing with family members and their friends..

I did take a few side trips though. One was to the local coffee shop/bakery to have a coffee with some of the locals who drift in and out all day long, and are more than willing to swap a few tall tales. And I also stopped by the local museum of some of the original 1800’s buildings of the island.

I also learned that this island is where the war of 1812 started and that the Kentvale Greneral Store is still in business today as one of the best stocked hardware and general merchandise stores in northern Ontario, (the original store has been preserved in the outdoor museum)...

As I post this I’m back on the road west, first taking a look around the ‘big city of Sault Saint Marrie, wher a seies of locks connect the shipping lanes of the Lakes Huron and Superior.

I’ll be following the north shoreline of lake Superior to the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. I estimate the drip will take me at least three days as I am told there is a great many of photo oportunities along the way.... Stay tuned.
