The story of “THE STORM” of 1913 on the Great Lakes...
Previously on these pages I mentioned the storm of 1913
on the Great Lakes.
At the Pointe Aux Barques lighthouse and museum, near Port Hope Michigan, there is a two page condensed history of that horrific event. To read it, click on the article to the right...
This was not a day of racking up the miles, but a day spent enjoying the Goderich City Park, for most of the day. With the camper parked in the shade just feet from the harbor front boardwalk, I was enjoying a leisurely day of cool breezes, coming off Lake Huron, watching the families enjoying there biking, or playing in the water and I just could not get the energy to ‘hit’ the highway...
By Mid afternoon I did finally decide to move on up the road to McGregor Prov. Park for the night. But the relatively short drive, of less than 90 miles, did produce a few opportunities for photos. And, it provided my first opportunity to fill the gas tank of the camper in Canada... Wow! You may think gas is expensive in the US.. Well it is cheep compared to the price here... At $1.03 per liter, the cost is the equivalent to $3.98 per US gallon.. And since the currency exchange rate is now just pennies, there is no savings paying in US dollars..
Oh Well... it’s only money!..

With wheels wobbling this, near century old, Model T Ford was chugging along at about 25-30 mph (down hill) northbound on Highway 21.
